Police officers probably meet people who hate them every single day of the year, but I thought that one story out of Pennsylvania was heartfelt enough to share considering all the negativity surrounding the police this week.
This past weekend, four police officers were eating at the Eat N’ Park restaurant in Homestead, PA. The restaurant’s waiter tried to sit another couple next to the officers, but that couple made it clear that they weren’t too keen on sitting next to the cops.
The guy looks over at one of the police officers and was like, ‘Nah I don’t want to sit here.’ So they got moved completely opposite, away from the police officers,” restaurant server Jesse Meyers told CNN affiliate WTAE.
“I looked over and said, ‘It’s okay sir. You won’t have to worry about it, we won’t hurt you,” Homestead police Officer Chuck Thomas said. “He looked at me hard again and said he’s not sitting here and walked away.”
What a d*ck, right? I mean unless one of the police officers had arrested you or your family for possession or something else stupid and pointless, I can’t understand openly hating the police like this. Only bad things can come from open contempt for the police… Except something good came from it.
Rather than letting the miserable haters sit in a booth by themselves, happy at their open disrespect for authority, the police went ahead and paid for the couple’s bill. Additionally, they left this note on the receipt.
“Sir, your check was paid for by the police officers you didn’t want to sit next to. Thank you for your support.”
