Colleen Burns, 35, from Florida, was hiking with two friends in the Grand Canyon when she plunged 400 feet to her death. A couple of hours before then, she posted photos to her Instagram account admiring the view earlier that Friday before she tripped and fell from the South Kaibab Trail. Rangers found her body about 400 feet below Ooh Aah Point, a famous landmark in the national park where hikers are known to catch the sunrise.
According to the Daily Mail, Burns was taking photographs with two of her friends during their Arizona vacation just before she fell to her death. Her friend, Jessica Roman, described the incident:
“She was stepping out of the way for another gentleman to kind of squeeze in, and unfortunately, Colleen kind of got tripped up on her own feet and fell backwards, fell into the canyon. That was the longest, strangest, craziest two seconds of my life.”
In addition to working for Yelp, Colleen was a big fan of the DJ Kaskade, and formed the group Kaskade Konnect on social media. She had obviously made an impact on Kaskade, as he paid tribute to her during a recent concert.
