Berrien County dispatch says shots were fired at the Berrien County Courthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan just before 2:30 p.m. According to a Tweet from the scene, the shooter is on the third floor.
According to the Berrien County Courthouse Website, the third floor is the Civil Division floor. The Civil Division hears all civil suits, without regard to dollar amount of the dispute, including small claims and landlord/tenant cases.
At this time, it is being reported that four people have been shot, including one police officer, who sustained non-life threatening wounds. Similarly, the suspect in the shooting is also unknown. All of the victims were transported to a nearby hospital. Local ABC affiliate ABC57 has a crew arriving at the scene. Witnesses said the courthouse is being evacuated and an interior search of the building was ongoing by 3:20 PM. All inmates are accounted-for, except for three inmates who are being held in a holding cell on the third floor.
According to , WXYZ7, 4 people have been shot, and three people have been killed, including the shooter. The other two were bailiffs. Reportedly, the man was being taken to jail when he got a hold of a deputy’s gun, and opened fired.

Who is the Berrien County Courthouse Shooter?
The suspect has yet to be identified, however it is being reported that he was in custody, being transferred to jail, and that he stole a deputy’s gun and began open firing. The shooter is being reported to be one of the three deceased.
