Micah X Johnson Named As First Dallas Ambush Shooter

The Dallas Police Department have identified Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, as one of the suspects in the Dallas sniper ambush. Micah is the suspect who first spoke to police negotiators and was then killed by a Dallas Police Department bomb squad robot once those negotiations failed. Negotiations broke down around 2:30 AM local time.

“We tried to negotiate for several hours, negotiations broke down, we had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said. “We saw no other option but to use our bomb-robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was. Other options would have exposed our officers to grave danger. The suspect is a result of detonating the bomb.”

Micah, a resident of Mesquite, TX, told police that he was acting alone and that he wanted to kill as many white police officers as possible. Brown said that “He wanted to kill officers. And he expressed killing white people, killing white officers, he expressed anger for Black Lives Matter.”

Micah Johnson, in speaking with the negotiators, told police that he was a veteran.

According to CNN, Micah has no criminal record–which means that the mug shots you’re seeing of a black male aren’t of this Micah Johnson.

Here are the only known photos of Micah X Johnson. CNN was the first to identify Micah with the photo you see in the lead story.
