Cleveland Cavaliers Coach Ty Lue Just Compared NBA Finals To The Civil War, Let's All Point And Laugh

Ok, it’s a little bit of lip service, but what he said is dumb none the less. Trailing 3-1 in the NBA Finals to what may be the greatest basketball team of all time, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue had to find someway to motivate his squad. Playing on the road, in the leagues most hostile building, facing a lead that has never been overcome in the finals before, Lue really had to give his guys a kick in the ass.
That kick in the ass, turned out to be a civil war comparison. Via ESPN:

“That happened in 1861 to 1865 and we lost a lot of great men,” he said. “But the thing that stood out to me was they were just showing how they lined up and they were preparing for war and the guys on the front line, they knew they were going to die, but they were willing to die for the guys behind them and they were willing to die and sacrifice for their country. And I said, ‘When you’re on that front line, you got to be prepared and ready to die.’ I said, ‘Everybody tonight in this locker room has to be prepared and ready to stand on the front line.’”

Okay … uhhh … I don’t think Kevin Love looks like he’s ready to die for sh*t, Coach, let alone a basketball game.
