Pokémon GO is scheduled to come out sometime this year, Nintendo and Niantic have confirmed this again recently. A 2016 release seems to have always been the plan, even though the game was first announced last year. Rumor is that Nintendo and Niantic will launch the games sometime this later this summer, or early in the fall. That would be in line with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon that is scheduled for this November and Pokemon GO will force users to explore their neighborhoods, as the Pokemon you run into will depend on your location.
The official release on Pokémon GO from Nintendo is:
Get ready for an all-new Pokémon experience! Pokémon GO opens a universe of Pokémon to find, catch, trade, and battle on your iPhone or Android device! With Pokémon GO, you’ll discover Pokémon in a whole new world—your own! Pokémon GO will use real location information to allow players to experience catching, trading, and battling Pokémon.
As for the actual game play, the game will work as following:
“Pokémon GO will allow players to find and catch more than a hundred different Pokémon as they explore the world around them. When players approach a Pokémon in the wild, their phones will notify them and give them the opportunity to engage and catch the Pokémon using the phone’s touch screen to throw a Poké Ball. Poké Balls and other special items can be found at PokéStops, which are located at interesting places such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments. During gameplay, Pokémon GO players will be encouraged to join one of three teams and engage in Gym battles with other teams. After joining a team, players will gain the ability to assign their Pokémon to Gyms. Like PokéStops, Gyms can be found at real locations in the world.”
Pokémon GO Release Date:
No official announce date has been revealed yet, but with beta testing underway, it is being speculated that Pokémon GO will be released late summer/early fall of 2016.
