Coastal Carolina on Lockdown After Fatal Shooting Happens Off-Campus

Coastal Carolina is currently on lockdown after a fatal shooting happened off-campus. Here’s everything you need to know about the school’s nearby shooting and sudden lockdown.

What happened at Coastal Carolina?

Today there was a shooting at off-campus housing The Cove, where one victim was confirmed dead Monday afternoon. The housing was close to Coastal Carolina’s campus and several students live there, despite it not being directly associated with the school.
According to Lt. Selena Small of the Conway Police Department, “Today at approximately 3:25 p.m. officers of Conway Police Department responded to The Cove Apartments located at 1142 Highway 544 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located one male victim that was deceased from his injuries.”


The incident apparently occurred outside in the building’s parking lot. One suspect is in custody, but according to The Chanticleer, one suspect is still at large.


Reactions to the Shooting

The campus is currently on lockdown. School officials are urging students and faculty to remain inside and report and suspicious behavior.


Finals for today are cancelled until further notice.
