SEC Basketball Standings: Top 14 Teams For Mar. 7

The regular season has ended in the Southeastern Conference and with that comes the conference tournament. There are a few surprises at the top along with the fact that nine of the conference’s 14 teams finished conference play at the .500 mark or even better. Texas A&M and Kentucky tied for the top spot in the conference but it will be the Aggies that have the top seed in the tournament being played in Nashville this coming week.
Here is a look at the final SEC standings and the upcoming SEC Tournament schedule.

Final SEC Standings

1. Texas A&M (13-5, 24-7)- Even as the regular season conference champions, the Aggies are projected to be only a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Maybe a tournament win will boost their resume up a line.
2. Kentucky (13-5, 23-8)- It’s been another ho-hum winning season for the Wildcats. John Calipari’s team has been cruising along and finished in a tie with A&M for the conference title.
3. South Carolina (11-7, 24-7)- It will be worth watching to see what the Gamecocks do in the SEC Tournament. They are in that dangerous No. 8 or 9 seed area right now looking forward.
4. Vanderbilt (11-7, 19-12)- Their record isn’t great overall and the 12 losses may hurt them seeding-wise later on but don’t sleep on the Commodores. This is a very dangerous team.
5. LSU (11-7, 18-13)- Here is the ultimate wild card. Ben Simmons and company probably needs to win the SEC Tournament to make the NCAA Tournament. Can the freshman do it?

8. Florida (9-9, 18-13)
9. Arkansas (9-9, 16-15)
10. Alabama (8-10, 17-13)
11. Mississippi State (7-11, 14-16)
