Manning is taken by the Indianapolis Colts and signs a $48 million contract that included a $11.6 million signing bonus. The contract was the richest at the time for a rookie when it was signed in July of 1998 and was nearly $17 million more than the contract for the No. 2 pick in Ryan Leaf. Their careers went in different directions from the start.

Manning agrees to a new seven-year, $99.2 million contract extension with the Colts and made $35 million for the first season of the new contract. The contract would allow Manning to accumulate a vast fortune well before his 30th birthday. The contract would give Manning a season where he would earn $26.4 million during the 2011 year.

Manning moves on from the Colts and signs a $96 million contract with the Broncos. Manning also makes one of his biggest deals ever as he becomes a Papa John’s pizza franchisee in the Denver area with 25 different stores. It is a deal that Manning is still a part of to this date and continues to rake in millions of dollars per year for it.

Manning took a $4 million pay cut to help the Broncos for the 2015 season but earned half of the bonus back by taking Denver to the Super Bowl. He made $15 million for this Super Bowl season from the $19 million he was scheduled to make.
With all the money he has made from football and endorsements, that isn’t a shabby total at all for an athlete who may be the most popular off the field football player on the planet right now.
The Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50, making Peyton Manning a two-time Super Bowl champion. After the 2015-2016 season was over, Manning announced his retirement from the NFL.

Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning could be the next athlete who makes a post-retirement transition into politics and is a “possible” candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2018.

The NFL turns 100 next year, and the league can’t have a birthday party without Peyton Manning.
