Donald Trump was just nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, alongside other nominees like Pope Francis and a campaigner for Isis rape survivors.
WTF is the world coming to?
According to Independent, Kristian Berg Harpviken, a Noble watcher and head of the Peace Research Institute in Oslo, “a letter submitted by an unidentified US nominator proposed Trump for ‘his vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, Isis, nuclear Iran and Communist China.'”
Umm… “peace through strength ideology?” Sounds counterintuitive, but ok.
Harpviken also mentioned that Edward Snowden was name dropped for the award as well, along with Colombian peace negotiators, US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.
So… maybe it’s more of a joke? I mean, come on. Between his disparaging comments against women, the entirety of Mexico, and every Muslim in the world, how could he have a legitimate chance of winning anything?
Granted, that’s what a large chunk of America thought when he announced he was running for president, and look where we are now. Is this what the end looks like?
