Kelsey Annese, a 21-year-old SUNY Geneseo student and basketball player for the Knights, was found dead in a bedroom in Geneseo, NY. Her body was discovered alongside her boyfriend Colin Kingston, 24, and Matthew Hutchinson, also 24. It’s too early to say for sure, but there are indications that Kelsey was one victim of a double murder-suicide.
The Buffalo News states that police dispatch received a call from a man who said that “his son called from an unknown number and stated that he murdered his girlfriend… and he’s also going to kill himself.”
The SUNY Geneseo community is still in shock and all three involved in the tragedy were well-known for their contributions to the city. Kelsey, a 5′ 7″ senior, started playing for the Geneseo Knights her sophomore year after winning an intramural championship and deciding she missed the sport too much. Kelsey played her last game on Saturday night, scoring five points for the Knights and helping them win out over Buffalo State.
