The final game of the day on December 26 is the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Fans will look at the fact that the 8-4 UCLA Bruins are playing a 5-7 Nebraska Cornhuskers team and immediately decide that it is a waste of time since Nebraska wouldn’t have made the postseason if there weren’t so many bowl games. However, even with that record, the Cornhuskers may have enough to pull an upset here against a team that doesn’t have to leave their state to play.
UCLA lost two of their last three games including a 40-21 loss to USC to end the season. Josh Rosen has passed for 3,351 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season and seems to have a favorite target in Jordan Payton. Payton has 75 catches for 1,069 yards and four touchdowns. Paul Perkins has balanced out the pass game with quality rushing. Perkins finished the regular season with 1,275 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns. This game won’t be a cakewalk for the Bruins, who average the same 32.5 points a game that Nebraska averages.
Nebraska had a two-game winning streak snapped by Iowa in the team’s season finale. Tommy Armstrong Jr. has 2,856 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions for the year while Jordan Westerkamp has looked great at wide receiver. Westerkamp has 63 catches for 874 yards and seven touchdowns. Terrell Newby rushed for 743 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season and will need to have a big game for the Cornhuskers to win as the Bruins give up 187.8 yards per game on the ground.
