There are some matchups on the college football bowl schedule that has more excitement involved with them than others. The Las Vegas Bowl pits two teams with 9-3 records who have every intention of making this game something to remember as the BYU Cougars face the Utah Utes at Sam Boyd Stadium. BYU won their final two games of the regular season with a 51-28 win over Utah State completing their regular season as an independent. Tanner Mangum threw for 3,062 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions during the regular season while finding Mitch Mathews 52 times for 729 yards and 11 touchdowns. Algernon Brown has led the run game with 697 yards this season and 11 touchdowns. This is a Cougars team that is averaging over 34 points a game for the year.
Utah broke a two-game losing streak with a 20-14 win over Colorado to end their regular season. Travis Wilson has thrown for 2,024 yards, 13 touchdowns and ten interceptions on the season. Britain Covey has been a big play target with 41 catches for 518 yards and four touchdowns while Devontae Booker is a beast to stop in the ground game with 1,261 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. The Utes don’t score as much as BYU but do play solid defense. Can they score enough here to win this game?
