There are a lot of harrowing tales coming out of The City of Light after the deadly attacks in Paris last Friday. Sadly most of them involve bloodshed and loss, but there are a couple of serendipitous stories–like this one French man who was saved by his Samsung phone.
One second he’s got the phone to his head talking to his friend, the next second shrapnel embeds itself into his device instead of his temple.

Immediately you think of all the soldiers in WWI and WWII who would carry Bibles in their pockets to stop bullets, but there’s a big difference here. With the soldiers, they knew what they were doing. This civilian just happened to be on his phone when it saved his life.
