Sunday afternoon will bring the next chapter in a saga between two teams that didn’t look likely a decade ago. The New England Patriots and New York Giants now a rich history now after playing each other in two Super Bowls with the Giants winning both including ending the Patriots’ perfect season. The two teams will play at MetLife Stadium as the Patriots are once again undefeated at 8-0 while the Giants bring a 5-4 record into the game.
New England beat Washington 27-10 last week at home in playing their third straight home game. Tom Brady has played like he has a chip on his shoulder all season long with 2,709 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and two interceptions. Rob Gronkowski is playing his normal role as Brady’s favorite receiver with 44 catches for 693 yards and seven touchdowns while LeGarrette Blount will handle the bulk of the carries now with Dion Lewis out for the season. Blount has 447 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Brady would like to beat the Giants more than any other team right now probably.
The Giants scored a 32-18 road win against the Buccaneers last week as they come into this game. Eli Manning has 2,339 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions for the season. Odell Beckham Jr. is playing like a Pro Bowler again with 59 catches, 759 yards and seven touchdowns while the run game has had some issues but Rashad Jennings has 364 yards on the ground and a touchdown. This is likely going to come down to a Brady vs. Manning showdown which is what every fan wants to see anyway. The Giants would love to have a chance to play New England a third time in the Super Bowl.
