The Clemson Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the country with their 9-0 record and will look to move to 10-0 on Saturday as they go to the Carrier Dome to face the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse is 3-6 for the season and 1-4 in the ACC while Clemson is 6-0 in conference play and has clinched the Atlantic Division title and a berth in the conference title game. Clemson remained in the top spot as well in the latest playoff rankings this week.
Clemson is averaging 488 yards a game behind their offense led by Deshaun Watson. Watson has 2,233 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions and is getting serious Heisman Trophy consideration. Wayne Gallman has 977 rushing yards and eight touchdowns to offset what Watson is doing. Artavis Scott has 56 catches for 554 yards and four touchdowns in the pass game. The schedule looks good for Clemson to get to the conference title undefeated.
Syracuse’s Eric Dungey has thrown for 1,298 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions at quarterback for the Orange while Steve Ishmael has become a solid target with 30 catches for 458 yards and five touchdowns. The rushing game is being led by Jordan Fredericks, who has 426 yards on the ground to go with three touchdowns. The Orange would love to ruin Clemson’s perfect season and chance at the playoff.
