This week, Elon University students went above and beyond for Kathryn Thompson, a worker at one of their on-campus cafeterias who they feel is an important member of their community. “It’s five nights every week that you can count on her generous helping of down to earth sincerity and open friendliness served up with every plate she delivers,” students Taylor Zisholtz and Lucy Smith-Williams say.
So what could the students, in turn, do for Kathryn? Well they got an idea after talking with the kind soul about Florida, when they learned Kathryn’s dream was to take her family to Disney World.
And that’s exactly what they did. With a lot of help from the Elon University students and community, the girls raised $10K to send Kathryn on her dream vacation.

I know it’s cruel, but I couldn’t help myself but laugh when Kathryn said “that’s sweet,” without even knowing what she was looking at. Just the definition of a nice older woman who says that things are pretty and nice because that’s the way she was raised.
