There is no disputing what the biggest game of the weekend is around college football as two of the four teams that would presently be in the college football playoff face on as the 7-0 LSU Tigers go on the road to face the 7-1 Alabama Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium under the lights Saturday night. LSU was ranked No. 2 in the playoff rankings this week while Alabama was No. 4 over some undefeated teams even with their loss. The winner of this game should have a very solid standing in the playoff race as the season winds down.
The Tigers had last week off after winning 48-20 against Western Kentucky in a non-conference home game. This is a LSU team that is led by their very talented running back Leonard Fournette who has 1,352 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns this season. He is the key to the whole offense. Brandon Harris has been a game manager at quarterback with 1,098 yards through the air to go with nine touchdown passes. Travin Dural is usually who Harris looks to when he does throw with 24 catches for 426 yards and two touchdowns.
The Crimson Tide was also off last week after struggling to a 19-14 win against Tennessee on October 24 at home. Their offense runs through their running back as well with Derrick Henry, who has 1,044 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns for the year. Jake Coker has been good at the quarterback position however with 1,623 yards through the air to go with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Calvin Ridley is leading the team in receiving with 45 catches for 525 yards and three touchdowns. The one loss won’t hurt Alabama as long as they win out.
