Malala Yousafzai was the lead guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night–which was kind of meaningful, since it was Colbert’s way of saying, “Hey, I’m the late-night host who’ll put an 18-year-old Nobel laureate as my first guest and keep Kerry Washington of the very popular Scandal waiting in the wings.”
Because, you know, Kerry can’t complain that she’s following a gal who’s a Pakistani activist for female education who got shot in the head just for promoting education for girls.
Anyway, there’s a good documentary about Malala out now, but The Late Show is still entertainment. That’s how we get the weird sight of Stephen Colbert and Malala Yousafzai performing card tricks. If nothing else, it’s a surreal moment worthy of Ernie Kovacs. Look up Ernie Kovacs, damn it…
