The Karate Kid has been revamped as the story of Daniel the Bully–who came to sunny California from brutal New Jersey and terrorized the poor kids of a local dojo.
It’s real believable, too. We know that wiseguys have been switching around classic film narratives ever since The Shining was turned into a feel-good comedy. This is still a really inspiring take on The Karate Kid that holds up without any real revised history.
Also, it’s a nice tribute to the great William Zabka, who always deserves renewed attention as a genuinely good guy who just happened to play a creep in two classic ’80s movies. The other one is One of the Guys. You should check that out, but check thisĀ out first…
