The US Women’s World Cup soccer team is coming in hot both on and off the field. While I’m sure that the US Women’s team is a little bummed that they’re not going into the world’s biggest soccer tournament ranked at #2 and not #1, we couldn’t be more proud of the squad our nation is fielding.
We’re certainly expecting great things from our women, despite the fact that once again we’ve been placed in the “Group of Death” (USA, Australia, Sweden, Nigeria).
Will this be the first time in 15 years that we finally win the Women’s World Cup? We say yes. With veteran leadership like Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, and Hope Solo (who probably intimidates everyone on the field) we are feeling awfully good about Team USA. That loss in the finals to Japan still stings a bit.
Since Canada is hosting this iteration of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, they’ll be playing in the first game on June 6th at 6:00 PM EST in Edmonton. The US will kick off their inaugural match on June 8th at 7:30 PM against Australia (currently ranked 10th) in Winnipeg Stadium. You can see the USA’s full group stage schedule here.
