Chase Headley hit a bunt to first base in last night’s 5-3 win by the Yankees over the A’s on Saturday night–and it was the most exciting play of the day in major league baseball.
The Yankees had two outs in the top of the seventh inning, so we were already expecting something a lot more dramatic than a mere bunt–but then Chase managed to show some precision wizardry. He bunted that ball right along the third-base line and (practically) all the way to the bag. Was it going fair? Was it going foul? Nobody knew until the amazing end
Anyway, this is the most exciting bunt that we’ve ever seen since the climax of Mr. Baseball. That’s a Tom Selleck movie about…well, never mind. This is actually better….
