John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have been a revolving door of talent over the past several years with many of the team’s superstars staying for one year and then going to the NBA. Sunday night, the latest crop of Wildcats beat NAIA powerhouse Georgetown College 121-52. It led Georgetown coach Chris Briggs to say that the Wildcats “could have beaten some NBA teams.” [photo: Andy Lyons/Getty]
It is true that Kentucky has a lot of talent but playing against NBA teams is a completely different animal all together. It even led Calipari to post on Twitter his thoughts about what Briggs said about his team…
Briggs even said that Kentucky could go undefeated this season which is always a strong possibility with the talent in Kentucky. However, Calipari knows that there are going to be a lot of high expectations on his team not just from Briggs but from the media and the fans going forward this season. Could the Wildcats beat a team like the Philadelphia 76ers? It would be a game to see just to find out how close Kentucky could get to winning the game.
