Nick Saban is loved at the University of Alabama by everyone involved. In fact, Nick Saban is so beloved that the boosters for the Crimson Tide decided to pay off Saban’s $3.1 million house in January 2013–even though they didn’t have to do that, according to AL.com. Saban makes nearly $7 million a season, but sure isn’t worrying about house payments now. [photo: Kevin C. Cox/Getty]
The group will even be picking up the cost of property taxes each year for the Sabans. This would almost guarantee that Saban is going to stay at Alabama for a long time to come. Those boosters probably consider it a good investment, too. The Crimson Tide appear to be on track to have a berth in the new college football playoff. Of course, if Alabama wins that, there’s also a chance that the boosters will need to come up with something else.
The Crimson Tide Foundation is a nonprofit group whose mission is to work with the Alabama athletic department–according to their website. That organization may have their work cut out for them if they want to do anything else for Saban if he wins another title. Let’s hope Saban doesn’t have his eye on a nicer house.
