[photo: Sam Greenwood/Getty]We’re not sure what they’re doing over there at the Saint Leo University Polling Institute, but their most recent work seems to have been farmed out to the Captain Obvious University Polling Institute–as the fine Florida pollsters reveal that the most beloved college football teams in the state of Florida are the University of Florida Gators and the Florida State Seminoles. Yeah. We’re pretty sure that most people can come to that conclusion by driving across Florida and noticing the bumper stickers.
At least the pollsters of Saint Leo break it down into some interesting percentages. The core group consisted of 500 Floridians, and the University of Florida Gators had a fairly clear lead with 25% of the group–with the Seminoles getting 19% of the vote. That left a few fringe groups like the University of Miami Hurricanes grabbing the leftover votes. There really weren’t many leftover votes, though. 22% of the core group didn’t know or care about Florida college sports teams.
13% of that crowd didn’t care about paying college athletes, either–which left it to 65% of the crowd saying that the chance for a college degree is payment enough, and 22% saying, “Screw you!” And then there was a big fight. Which isn’t true, but that would’ve livened up things, right? Anyway, here’s an official count, and we recommend that Saint Leo University Polling Institute consider serving up some alcohol at the next polling session. Might make things more interesting…
