Let’s hear it for Bikram Yoga, who didn’t let being in Arlington, Virginia keep them from making the dopiest 9/11 promotion of the day. At least, we’re hoping that things don’t get any more tasteless than this. The deep thinkers at the yoga studio did some serious mathematics, and decided that 9 + 11 provided a great excuse to promote a 20% off sale via Twitter.
Which, of course, also gave plenty of people on Twitter a great excuse to tell the geniuses at Birkam Yoga that they were screwed in the head. Bikram Yoga didn’t handle that criticism well, either.They could’ve just offered a quick apology. Instead, the Bikram account complained (in a since-deleted Tweet) that it was “a shame” that everyone was “go[ing] to the negative.”
Then things got even more offensive with Bikram on the defense…
Yeah. Toss in a conspiracy theory,Bikram. That’s real enlightened. The good news is that Bikram seems to have finally brought in some grown-ups to handle the scandal. Here’s a Facebook post that was finally sent out, and linked via their Twitter account. This doesn’t convince us that Bikram Yoga is staffed with decent people, but it’s a start–and maybe everyone there will be smart enough to just shut down a year from now, and spend the day in quiet reflection…
