There has been a promotion going on for many years at the University of Iowa where five randomly selected students who bought season tickets for football would get free tuition. However, it appears that the promotion has been ended because of legal issues as questions have been raised about whether or not the promotion actually complies with state raffle laws.
The package was worth nearly $8,000 so any student would want to get the job done and buy season tickets to try to get free tuition. Student ticket sales however have been dropping and now the university is going to go to giving out $1,000 gift cards to try to entice the students back. There is simply so much going on in this day and age for young people that sitting at a football game doesn’t have as much appeal anymore to some though.
It’s only a matter of time because some legal problem will come up with this as well and the students won’t be able to get the gift cards either. It’s just another day of the legal world giving involved in something that can only help out the students in tougher economic times.
