Green Flash Brewing Company’s Palate Wrecker Is What’s On Tap

Palate Wrecker

The beer I am drinking this weekend, which I recommend you do the same, is one that is loaded with hop flavor and citrus punch. This weekend Green Flash Brewing Company’s Palate Wrecker Imperial IPA is What’s on Tap!

Founded in 2002, Green Flash Brewing Company’s beers are synonymous with huge flavor profiles, yet their beers standout among others because they have developed a style that is distinctly their own. Whether it is Imperial Red Ale or their West Coast IPA (which I reviewed last year check it out here!) Green Flash is quickly become one of the landmark breweries of the west coast.

There are many Imperial IPAs that are more popular, but I am not sure why, because Green Flash Brewing Company’s Palate Wrecker has as much hop and citrus presence as any of them and is just as good. When I opened the bottle I immediately smelled the citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon, and lime. Each taste is full of hops and just before the ending with a huge amount of bitterness there is a hint of earthy pine flavor which complements the hoppy citrus very nicely.

This weekend I am making spicy, blackened tuna. I am topping it with avocado and on the side are homemade sweet potato fries. The subtle caramel sweetness of Palate Wrecker should pair nicely with the fries and the spicy blackened rub of the tuna should off-set the hoppy flavor of the brew!
