Alex Trebek Becomes a Bigger Badass By Setting a World Record [VIDEO]

Longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek just earned another ounce of coolness by officially becoming the longest serving game show host on a single show in television history.
The people at Guinness World Records officially awarded Trebek with an honorary certificate for hosting all 6,829 shows since he first took the job in 1984. He has not missed a single show since he took the job except for one episode in 1997 when he switched places with Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajack as part of an April Fools’ day episode. Naturally, Trebek was humbled to receive the honor, just one of many he’s received while hosting the show. Jeopardy! has racked up numerous awards over the years since its syndicated debut in 1984. It has won a total of 30 Daytime Emmy Awards including 13 for Outstanding Game Show and six Emmys for Trebek, five for Outstanding Game Show Host and one for a special Lifetime Achievement Award. The show also won a Peabody Award in 2012.

Of course, having a Guinness World Record under his belt just adds to the mystique and awesomeness that is Alex Trebek. He may be in his mid-70’s but we recently learned that he lives a way more interesting life than most guys half of his age. Besides hosting TV’s most popular and longest running game show, he also works on his own lavish home in the Valley and goes on adventurous vacations like chartering a 1928 biplane to the Bahamas. If mankind ever needs to form some kind of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in order to save humanity, the first person they should call is Alex Trebek.
