Twitter Unlocks the Hashflag Feature
Twitter is getting ready for the World Cup by releasing a number of new features, including a hashtag with allows users to use a three-letter country code to put the corresponding World Cup team’s flag in their tweets. According to our friends over at Extra Mustard, Twitter will tally up all the Tweets using these “hashflags” in the days leading up to the World Cup and use the data to assemble the World Cup of Tweets bracket before the first match starts. The hashflags are perfect for people who think 140 characters is too much to read. Thanks for the tip, Shakira.
