The first two games of the Chicago Cubs’ season went to extra innings with their game on Wednesday going 16 innings. The team played 12 hours later and there were some tired players like Junior Lake. However, Lake grabbed the wrong road jersey for Thursday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in finding last year’s jersey and began the game wearing it. He was quickly told that he had the wrong jersey on but the image had already gone viral by then.
There can be some excuse for being tired after a long game and having a short turnaround but shouldn’t he have checked the front of the jersey before he went on the field or maybe one of his teammates says something before he gets out of the dugout? Obviously, that didn’t happen and Comcast SportsNet Chicago caught the mistake and put it on the air. Lake will be more careful from now on for sure–and maybe he should have just one road jersey in his locker on future road trips.
