"Jeopardy" Contestant Accuses Trebek Of Supporting Sweatshops [VIDEO]

So there’s been a lot of super awkward moments on Jeopardy. Any show that’s been on the air since 1964 will have more than a few mishaps and funny exchanges. And we’ve always gotten a kick out of host Alex Trebek’s back-and-forth with the contestants on the show, especially when they try and sass the long-time host. That’s (almost) exactly what happened with a contestant named Tom last night–except things got kind of personal.
The show is currently in the middle of its Battle of the Decades, in which champions from years past return to compete against each other. Once the host got to Tom, things went wrong–mostly because Alex Trebek asked about a documentary that Tom was planning to fund with his winnings. Tom replied that he was working on the subject of sweatshop labor. “So I went to Bangladesh about 10 years ago,” Tom helpfully explains, “and toured a garment factory, and I thought, ‘What if I saw a shirt I was wearing being made by these people?’ So it’s to try to put a face on who makes our clothes.”
All well and good until Tom added this little stinger: “Maybe you can find out the names of the 8-year-olds who made your fancy suit there, Alex.”
