Ubisoft’s highly anticipated open world hackfest Watch_Dogs now has a release date and a story.
Ubisoft finally released a new trailer that reveals exactly why Adrian Pierce is causing all that chaos by hacking into the city of Chicago’s electrical grid, phone systems and online networks. It’s for a much nobler and more personal cause than just because it’s cool to be able to turn an entire city into your own personal plaything.
The trailer reveals that the game’s central story revolves around Pierce’s need for revenge. He worked as an underground hacker and thief until he accidentally witnessed a crime being committed by a notorious human trafficker who put out a bounty on his life. Unfortunately, his wife is killed by the hitman and Pierce sets off to find his own kind of justice. Then finally at the very end of the trailer, a release date flashes on the screen of May 27th for the PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Sorry, WiiU players. You’ll still have to wait your turn.
This game has been garnering nothing but buzz since it became the biggest surprise hit at E3 in 2012 and despite a series of delays in development, it’s finally got a launch date. It cannot come soon enough. Watch_Dogs looks like something that lets you do everything you wish you could do in every other open world game and that’s a pretty tall order since most of them let you do things like drive super fast cars into crowds of pedestrians and open fire at will.
