The WWE’s New Digital Channel Could Kill The Business Model They Built
The WWE’s new digital channel could potentially mean the end of the pay-per-view era. Professional wrestling is considered the pioneer of PPV, but with their new $9.99/month digital channel there really isn’t a reason for anyone to pay $45 for one PPV. According to our friends over at Extra Mustard, the monthly package gives members access to a 24-hour-a-day network which features some original content, broadcasts of classic matches, on-demand access to the entire PPV archive, and live streams of all 12 WWE pay-per-views. Finally I’ll be able to watch The Ultimate Warrior defeat Hulk Hogan any time I want…without the YouTube advertisements.
