I went to Rutgers University and damn it, I loved it. In fact, I’m going back in about two weeks for homecoming, where I plan on fully embracing the return to college. I may even drunkenly piss my pants just for sport. I’m not sure yet though, the piss will be a game-time decision. Either way, if you’re on College Ave. that weekend, you’ll find your boy basically cross-eyed at Queens.
But even as much as I love my university, I’ll be the first to admit that the amount of bad decisions the school has made over the last couple years is absolutely unprecedented. Seriously, I’ve only been at COED for a little more than a year, and this is my SECOND article about how misguided the Rutgers decision makers are.
So what happened? This:

The reason? Because fully-grown, grey-haired adult AD Pat Hobbs took a sip of beer in front of the students. OH, THE F*CKING HUMANITY.

Hobbs was forced to give an apology, saying:
“My first concern is always for the safety and well-being of our students,” Hobbs told NJ Advance Media. “Anyone who was at the [student tailgate] Saturday knows that I was acting to ensure that.”
GUYS….. guyysssssss. It was a 21-year-old event. This guy is a brand new AD at a massive university trying to hype up his students. Only FOUR tickets were given out. To put that in perspective, I once had a buddy get two tickets in one night. Rutgers University Police chief, Kenneth Cop (YES, really his name) told NJ Advance Media that the tailgate was relatively calm on Saturday and that two citations per person were given to four people before the noon kickoff. In the world of the Big 10, that’s child’s play. And Rutgers, please try to remember, we are now in the Big 10. We have to show up at these games, and you aren’t helping.
I didn’t go to a single tailgate my final two years at Rutgers and the University is specifically to blame for that. Hopefully, they change their minds on this one ASAP.
