Mr. Robot is an American drama–thriller television series created by Sam Esmail. It stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and hacker. Alderson suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. Alderson is recruited by an insurrectionary anarchist known as “Mr. Robot,” played by Christian Slater, to join a group of hacktivists. The group aims to cancel all debts by attacking the large corporation E Corp.
Mr. Robot came out of nowhere last summer to become a massive hit. USA Network doesn’t have many critically acclaimed shows, especially one that premieres during the summer, but Mr. Robot defied those odds and became a massive critical and commercial success. In fact, it won the 2015 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama, and was nominated for the at the 2016 Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series. The 12-episode second season premiered on July 13, 2016.
