Guys, it’s time to celebrate. You always knew your irresponsible drinking would benefit you eventually (despite what all of those conspiracy theorists say!), and today is YOUR day.
According to a new study, drinking three glasses of champagne a week could prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s. A compound found in Pinot noir and Pinor meunier grapes – both of which are typically used to make your favorite fancy drink – is said to prevent the onset of the brain diseases.
Published by researchers at England’s Reading University, the study was based off of an experiment with rats. Their findings stated that people who drink champagne up to three times a week could also boost their spatial memory.
According to Evening Standard, researchers hope to try the experiment on pensioners.
Professor Jeremy Spencer told the Mail on Sunday: “The results were dramatic.
“This research is exciting because it illustrates for the first time that moderate consumption of champagne has the potential to influence cognitive functioning such as memory.”
A spokesman for the Alzheimer’s Society described the study as “interesting” but added; “A lot more research is needed.”
So basically, drinking is really, really good for you. That’s the takeaway here, right?
