There wasn’t too much action on the movie trailer front this week because nobody wanted to look bad next to the hype for Jurassic World. That’s understandable, although we got pretty excited over Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell reuniting for the upcoming Christmas comedy Daddy’s Home. But now it’s time to catch up on some more modest movies that still caught our eye with some sneak peeks–and some of them get us hoping the blockbuster season will soon be over…

Turbo Kid

We were one of the first to start geeking out over Kung Fury, even though it looked like an internet-ready celebration of hipster kitsch–and that turned out good enough to get Channing Tatum’s endorsement during his recent Reddit AMA. Now we’re proud to be following Turbo Kid, which is a hardcore tribute to ’80s video product. Take a look at how perfectly this film looks like a pay-cable staple from the ’90s–with Michael Ironside returning to his own schlock roots as a screen villain, because he’s effortlessly cool…

This trailer was responsible for a lot of stupid Phil Collins jokes in a lot of offices. Sicario is, in fact, a movie with Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin going rogue as government agents in the war against drugs. It looks pretty gritty, but also like a superhero movie…

Here’s a low-budget movie about some kids who sign up for an experiment that gives them super powers, and it already looks way more fun and interesting than the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. We’re hoping that we’ll get a chance to support this on the big screen in a few cities….
