Geico Insurance made one of the bigger bets of this NFL weekend with a new ad featuring Cincinnati Bengals Elbert “Ickey” Woods –who was famous in the late ’80s for the Ickey Shuffle. That was one of the greatest touchdown dances in the history of the NFL, and it usually took up a few minutes of airtime in a televised game.
That was a long time ago in football years, though. Geico took a gamble that fans still love Ickey, though, and he joined the ranks of Eddie Money and Mrs. Butterworth in celebrities making an ad for the company. Yeah, it worked.
