Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast keeps finding new ways to be one of the wildest shows on the internet. His latest sit-down with OF model Sophie Rain? Just the newest entry in that streak.
Last time this podcast made headlines, it was because the 70-year-old host slurred his way through an interview with disgraced actor Kevin Spacey — footage that spread fast online for all the wrong reasons.
But if you want the clearest snapshot of what Club Random actually feels like, look at Maher’s chat with former Disney Channel star Bella Thorne. Ten seconds in, and he’s already telling a visibly uneasy Thorne that “everyone wants her.” He says this while sitting in a set built to look like a teenager’s basement hangout, clearly a few drinks and a few puffs into the evening.
This time, the guest was Sophie Rain — an OF model who says she’s pulled in something close to $100 million selling adult content online. The conversation started off covering familiar ground: her career, her claims about being a virgin. Then it took a turn nobody probably expected.
They ended up talking about overpopulation.
Sophie Rain doesn’t get the appeal of having kids
Rain didn’t hold back on her thoughts about parenthood. “This is going to sound so weird. I don’t see the appeal in having kids,” she said. “You birthed this thing out of you and now your body is like different for the rest of your life. Most of the time they’re probably going to be a s—head anyways. They’re going to be little little kid, annoying, spitting up.”
Maher wasn’t shocked. If anything, he seemed proud.
He told Rain he’d been making this exact argument for 40 years — long before it became a talking point. “You’re saying everything I said 40 years ago,” Maher said. “More and more people feel that way. There’s a countermovement led by people like Elon Musk… they’re upset that we’re not having enough babies. I’ve been saying for like decades, have less babies. There’s too many people here now.”
Rain pushed back a little. “Isn’t this the most people there’s ever been on Earth?” she asked. “Why are we freaking out about not having babies?”
Maher had an answer ready — and he wasn’t calm about it.
“We don’t have enough resources for them now! Water — finite!” he said, practically shouting, as Rain nodded along. “They do not seem to understand, these geniuses of the world, what the word finite means. We’re running out of water here as it is now!”
