Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, who at his heaviest weighed over 425 pounds, revealed in a recent interview that Ozempic once offered him $1 million to become the “face” of the popular weight loss drug. The comedian – known to fans as “Fluffy” – also shared his personal experience using the medication.
During his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Iglesias explained that the pharmaceutical company approached him years ago, before the drug’s now-familiar “O O O Ozempic!” commercial jingle became widely recognized.
“Ozempic reached out to me many years ago. They offered me a freaking incredible deal to be the face of Ozempic,” he told Sharpe. “I was supposed to be the guy singing that in the commercials.”
Despite the lucrative offer, Iglesias turned it down.
“They wanted me to be the face of the brand. Even though it was a million dollar deal, I couldn’t do it. What they wanted from me was more than what I could give cause I was gonna do better on the road,” the comedian explained, noting that his touring schedule would have made fulfilling the obligations difficult.
Personal Experience with the Drug
Though he didn’t become Ozempic’s spokesperson, Iglesias – like many celebrities struggling with weight issues – did try the medication himself. His experience highlights both the effectiveness and potential concerns associated with the drug, which is primarily prescribed for Type 2 diabetes but has gained popularity for weight loss.
“I got on Ozempic for five months. Ozempic works,” he said candidly. “Ozempic is scary how good it works because it does curb your appetite to a place where you’re like, ‘Do I even need food?’ Seriously.”
What troubled him most was what happened after discontinuing the medication.

The rapid weight rebound is a concern that medical professionals have noted with GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic and Wegovy. Many patients experience significant weight regain when they stop taking these medications, which has raised questions about their long-term effectiveness without continued use.
Iglesias isn’t the first celebrity to discuss experiences with these medications. Others including Elon Musk, Sharon Osbourne, and Oprah Winfrey have publicly acknowledged using similar drugs for weight management, contributing to their soaring popularity despite ongoing supply shortages.
Iglesias’ most recent stand-up special, “Gabriel Iglesias: Legend of Fluffy,” was released on Netflix last year, continuing his successful comedy career that has spanned over two decades.
