Kevin Durant is already turning heads off the court before the 2025-26 NBA season even begins. The future Hall of Famer raised eyebrows during a recent interview with Kay Adams when he casually invited her to attend a Rockets game followed by a BBQ dinner.
The exchange happened earlier this week on Adams’ “Up & Adams” show, where the two engaged in some playful banter about a previous game Adams had attended. She claimed Durant ignored her despite knowing she was there, while he countered that she never gave him advance notice of her presence.
Durant quickly pivoted the conversation, suggesting she come to a game this season – with dinner plans already in mind.

Their interaction had the feel of high school flirtation, with the subtle back-and-forth that’s already gone viral across social media platforms.
KD’s New Chapter in Houston
At 37, Durant is preparing for his 18th NBA season – his first with the Houston Rockets after being acquired in July through an unprecedented seven-team trade (the largest in league history). The Rockets represent the fifth stop in Durant’s storied career, following his time with the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Seattle Storm/Oklahoma City Thunder.
Durant’s arrival has transformed Houston’s championship outlook.
The addition of the 13-time All-Star has vaulted the Rockets into legitimate title contention. Only the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, and New York Knicks currently have shorter odds to win it all next season, according to oddsmakers.
Interestingly, Durant’s Rockets debut will come against the team that originally drafted him back in 2008. Houston opens their season on October 21 with a road game against the defending champion Thunder – the organization that selected Durant second overall out of the University of Texas.
The Thunder-Rockets matchup will mark Durant’s first regular-season appearance in his new uniform, though basketball fans are clearly already getting entertained by his off-court charisma in Houston.
