Kid Rock is back in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons. For one reason or another, the musician decided it was time to attack pop star Taylor Swift with an incredibly sexist message on social media regarding her politics. Immediately following Kid Rock’s message, he became one of the top United States trends on Twitter.
Seemingly out of the blue, Kid Rock went after Taylor Swift for her support of Democratic candidates and discussed her desire to land major roles in Hollywood films.
Needless to say, he was far from sticking the landing.
“Taylor Swift wants to be a democrat because she wants to be in movies. Period,” he tweeted. “And it looks like she will suck the door knob off Hollyweird to get there. Oldest move in the book. Good luck girl.”
Kid Rock, an open Trump supporter who has been known to fly confederate flags at his concerts, has been a staunch Republican and outspoken Trump supporter for the past few years. His dig at Swift, meanwhile, appears to be an incredibly delayed response to her previous comments about her silence during the 2016 election.
But in a constant battle to generate headlines, Kid Rock seemed to see an opportunity to make some waves and he took his shot.
As you might expect, T-Swift fans quickly came to her defense.
“is a WOMAN, not a girl. Put respect on her name,” one Twitter user wrote. “She’s 2019’s highest-paid celeb in the world, holds the title for highest-grossing U.S. tour EVER, became the first solo female to win the Album of the Year Grammy twice and isn’t afraid to try new things (acting).”
Another added: “Pressed since she has impacted the music industry and pop culture more than you could ever dream lf. This is the first movie she has done in the last 6 years. She is not actively pursuing an acting career. Although it seems you need to since your music career is dead.”
If Kid Rock’s goal was to get in the headlines, he accomplished that goal, but the response probably wasn’t exactly what he imagined.
