Chance the Rapper’s debut studio album The Big Day is finally here. Despite a slight delay, the long-awaited project dropped in the afternoon of Friday, July 26. Chance has previously released three mixtapes — 10 Day, Acid Rap, and Coloring Book. All of the mixtapes were met with high praise from the fans, so they have been itching for some new music from the Chicago rapper.
The album immediately comes out of the gate with an upbeat feel that sets the tone for an uplifting album you will be able to listen to for hours.
“The whole album has been inspired by the day that I got married and how I was dancing that day,” Chance said about the project in an interview with Zane Lowe. “It was the hardest I ever danced in my life and I’m a great longtime dancer.
“Everything in it is all the different styles of music that make me want to dance and remind me of that day and remind me of that night and all those people that were there […] I’ve been waiting to make an album for a long time […] Just making two songs a day. And trying to have fun. But at the same time, I understand that it’s going to be more. More songs. More flexes. More dancing. Just more.”
