Michael “Doc” Thompson, a conservative radio personality who worked for The Blaze, was killed on Tuesday evening in a horrific jogging accident. According to a report from CBS News, Thompson was struck by a train in Haltom City, Texas. Thompson was 49 years old.
Thompson was struck by an Amtrak train. None of the 34 passengers on the train were injured in the accident.
“Doc was one of those one-in-a million talents, who was the same on the air as off the air,” Blaze Media host Glenn Beck said in a statement to The Blaze. “But what made him truly unique was that he truly tried to serve his audience, those who were less fortunate and struggling, as well as the small entrepreneurs who were clients of his show. He truly was excited at other people’s success.”
Witnesses say that Thompson was not on the tracks at the time he was hit, but he was close enough for the Amtrak train to make contact.
Thompson is survived by his wife Yuna and three children, Tiger, Cubby, and Wythe.
