Right before his probable weekend getaway to Mar-A-Lago, Donald Trump just had to squeeze one more preposterous moment into his week.
At this point, I think I’m kind of woke to the fact that he does all these things (tweet crazy shit, hold campaign rallies, yada, yada) to distract from the actual government news that would be covered otherwise. Just like always, he’s playing the media.
Luckily, I am not a journalist, and therefore feel zero moral guilt in bringing you this hilarious video of Trump quoting a proverb that he loves and has heard for “many, many years.”

I’ve heard it for many, many years and I love it: ‘Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue, but never forget to remember those that have stuck by you.’ We know that, politically speaking. A lot of us know that, we know it well. It’s a great phrase.”
Only one problem. What he calls an Irish proverb is actually a Nigerian poem. Classic mix-up. Those Nigerians and the Irish do share very similar cultures.
