'The Young Pope' Stream: Watch Season 1 Episode 2 Online

One of HBO’s newest flagship series, The Young Pope, premiered last night, with the second episode dropping tonight on MLK Day. In The Young Pope, Jude Law, who is British, plays Lenny Belardo, the first American-born pope. Pope Pius XIII begins the series as the newly elected Pope and former Archbishop of New York. His Chief Advisor, Sister Mary, is played by Academy Award winner Diane Keaton. Sister Mary is an American nun who raised Belardo and Cardinal Andrew Dussolier in an orphanage and has helped Lenny throughout his career. Sister Mary is appointed personal secretary to the Pope. Cardinal Andrew Dussolier, a missionary, Lenny’s longtime friend and a fellow orphan, is played by Scott Shepherd. Outside of that, not much is given about the plot of the Vatican-set satire. The series has already premiered overseas, so if you want to find spoilers, I’m sure you can.
The Young Pope has received widespread critical acclaim in England, Ireland, and Italy, so it’s reasonable to assume it will be a big hit in the United States as well. With a cast of award-winning actors, an acclaimed Italian writer and director, and a huge $50 million production budget, The Young Pope, which has already been renewed for a second season, is shaping up to be HBO’s next big hit.
