Brad Pitt’s Child Drops His Last Name for Angelina Jolie’s

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt wants nothing to do with her father’s last name anymore. She’s now the fourth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s six kids to legally distance themselves from “Pitt” — and the paperwork went in just over a week after she turned 18.

According to reports, Vivienne filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 17, changing her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to simply Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The reason given? “Personal.” A judge is set to hear the case on November 2.

That’s four out of six now.

Shiloh, Maddox, and Zahara already made the same move before Vivienne — dropping their father’s surname one by one over the past several years. It’s become something of a pattern among the siblings, though not all of them have followed suit.

Vivienne, for what it’s worth, had already been going by “Jolie” long before any court filing made it official. She was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for Broadway’s The Outsiders, a production she helped bring to life alongside her mother.

Her twin brother Knox hasn’t filed anything legally — not yet, anyway. But he reportedly used the name Knox Jolie on his high school graduation certificate back in June 2026, suggesting he might be headed in the same direction, paperwork or not.

Pax, meanwhile, remains the outlier. He’s reportedly the only one of the six who still spends time with the Pitt side of the family.

A source close to the situation told E! News that Jolie isn’t pushing any of this:

“Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal.”

Pitt and Jolie split back in 2016, and their divorce didn’t actually get finalized until December 2024 — eight years of legal back-and-forth that covered everything from custody arrangements to a fight over their French winery, Château Miraval.

What’s Next for Both of Them

Pitt’s got a couple of big projects on the way. First up is Heart of the Beast, hitting theaters September 25, which reunites him with Fury director David Ayer. He plays a Special Forces officer named James Belmont, stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with his retired combat dog after a plane crash.

After that, he’s stepping back into one of his most beloved roles — Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — for the sequel The Adventures of Cliff Booth. That one lands in theaters November 25 before making its way to Netflix on December 23.

Jolie’s got something in the works too. Anxious People is currently in post-production, with a cast that includes Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Segel, Carol Kane, Stephanie Allynne, Joanna Scanlan, Lennie James, and Jessica Gunning. No release date has been set just yet, though.
