Reacher star Alan Ritchson has issued a brief statement following a weekend altercation with Tennessee resident Ronnie Taylor that was caught on video. The footage showed Ritchson punching Taylor on a suburban street after a dispute involving Ritchson’s motorcycle.
Taylor shared his version of events with TMZ on Monday, claiming the confrontation began when he confronted Ritchson about motorcycle noise in the neighborhood.
“I was trying to get him to stop revvin’ and speedin’ through the neighborhood. He was on his motorcycle, loud as hell, and he had his kids out there too, ridin’ around. It was dangerous. So I got out in front of his bike and blocked him, and I pushed him,” Taylor explained.
He added, “I did push him because he was coming towards me on his, on his bike. He did it again for a second time. I pushed him a second time, and I think the second time he got off his bike and kicked the crap outta me.”
Ritchson responded to Taylor’s account with a single, pointed Napoleon Bonaparte quote shared on Instagram: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
New Video Reveals How the Confrontation Started
Recently released footage shows more context of the incident’s beginning. The video captures Taylor stepping directly into Ritchson’s path as the actor rode down the street. This forced Ritchson to brake suddenly, causing him to flip over his handlebars.
The physical altercation appears to have occurred after this initial incident.
A social media account posted the new footage with the caption: “🚨NEW: Video shows how the fight started between Alan Ritchson and his neighbor. The neighbor stepped directly in front of the bike, causing Ritchson to flip over the handlebars. The neighbor previously said he told the actor to ‘slow it down.’”
