A new civil filing claims former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez had multiple drugs in his system when he was stabbed in downtown Indianapolis last October.
The incident happened on Oct. 4, 2025. Sanchez ended up in critical condition after 69-year-old truck driver Perry Toles stabbed him — but surveillance footage later showed Sanchez attacking Toles first. Toles stabbed him in self-defense.
Now Sanchez is facing felony battery charges along with three misdemeanors. Toles is also suing him in civil court.
The Latest Allegations
According to the Daily Mail, Toles’s attorney filed new court documents claiming Sanchez was under the influence of “multiple illegal substances” before the stabbing.
“[This is] including but not limited to cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl, and alcohol. Plaintiff has cause to believe that one or more of these substances may have been consumed in one of Huse’s establishments, which caused or contributed to Sanchez’s impairment and his subsequent negligent and/or knowing conduct.”
The filing suggests Sanchez might’ve taken some of these drugs at nearby bars or clubs before the confrontation.
Sanchez’s legal team isn’t buying it.
“These are allegations in a civil filing, nothing more, and they should be treated accordingly. Allegations are not evidence,” his attorney Andrew M. McNeil said in a statement. “The truth will be determined by facts and evidence presented at trial, and we look forward to presenting them at the appropriate time.”
Fox dropped Sanchez from his broadcasting role shortly after the stabbing. His ex-girlfriend — who’s also the mother of his son — told reporters that “none of this is surprising to me” when she heard about what happened.
The case is still working its way through both criminal and civil courts.
